Told in rhyming verse, THE HIDE-AND-SCARE BEAR is a story
about a bear who is not very nice. Bear picks his nose, gobbles his food, and
never says please or thank you. However, the worst thing about Bear is the game
he plays with all the animals in the forest. He calls it
"Hide-and-Scare." He jumps out and roars when the other animals least
expect it and it frightens them terribly. Bear finds it incredibly funny. The
forest animals gather together to discuss what must be done about Bear. Someone
must approach him and stand up to him, but no one has the courage until the
little Rabbit says he will approach Bear and get him to stop, but will do so
with caring and kindness. Overall, THE HIDE-AND-SCARE BEAR is a cute little
story with a message about the power of showing kindness to others and how it
can change people.
