HERDING CATS by Sarah Andersen

HERDING CATS is a collection of the “Sarah’s Scribbles” comics. The comic strip was initially found on the Internet. HERDING CATS has two distinct sections. The first is a collection of the “Sarah’s Scribbles” comics. While often humorous and quite relatable, the comics in this collection don’t appear to have any overall connecting theme or plot. They are a series of slice-of-life comics that many people can relate. The second section of the book is more of an inspirational message to anyone who is a creative person. The essay, “Making Stuff in the Modern Era: A Guide for the Young Creative,” is told in both text and comics. It’s an uplifting message warning of the dangers of the Internet and social media. Overall, I enjoyed HERDING CATS, however, while I found the comics in the first section to be humorous and quite relatable, it was the graphic novel essay in the last part of the book that really makes the book stand out overall.
