Children's Book Review: WAKE UP!

WAKE UP! is the 4th book collaboration between poet Helen Frost and photographer Rick Lieder. The focus in this book is new life. The poetry is simple and the photographs that accompany them are so vivid. The book ends with details more about the animals in each of the photographs. WAKE UP! is a good book to read to celebrate spring and new life.

Children's Book Review: WE FOUND A HAT

WE FOUND A HAT is a tale of two turtles who find a hat in the desert. The hat looks good on both of them and they both want it. However, since there is only one hat, one turtle tells the other they must let it be. However, the other turtle can't forget it. He plans on sneaking back to the hat and taking it for his own when the other turtle is asleep. An unique tale about desiring something you can't have and the power of dreams.

Calendar Review: GAME OF THRONES 2018 16-MONTH EXECUTIVE ENGAGEMENT CALENDAR

The GAME OF THRONES 2018 16-MONTH EXCUTIVE ENGAGEMENT CALENDAR makes a great gift for Game of Thrones fans.  The calendar has a hardback cover that features part of the map of Westeros. The pages are made from uncoated paper stock. Spread throughout the calendar are the sigils of the Houses of Stark, Lannister, Greyjoy, Targaryen, Martell, Tyrell, and Baratheon. However, even though this calendar is meant for fans of Game of Thrones, it's actually a great little executive engagement calendar for anyone.

Children's Book Review: POOR LOUIE

The title character in POOR LOUIE is a little Chihuahua. His owners have made him the center of attention and he loves it. However, things slowly start to change for Louie. It begins when he's no longer allowed to eat at the table with his mom and dad. Then other changes start to take place. It's around this time that even his owners begin calling him "Poor Louie." Louie realizes that one of those human babies is on the way. However, when things start showing up in twos: two beds, a stroller for two, etc.  Louie has the realization that there might not just be one baby on the way, but two! So, Louie decides to run away. But he doesn't get very far before and the owners are almost home. Poor Louie! I really enjoyed POOR LOUIE. The animation reminded me of some older school Disney stories, such as 101 DALMATIANS. POOR LOUIE is a great little story.

Children's Book Review: THE HIDE-AND-SCARE BEAR

Told in rhyming verse, THE HIDE-AND-SCARE BEAR is a story about a bear who is not very nice. Bear picks his nose, gobbles his food, and never says please or thank you. However, the worst thing about Bear is the game he plays with all the animals in the forest. He calls it "Hide-and-Scare." He jumps out and roars when the other animals least expect it and it frightens them terribly. Bear finds it incredibly funny. The forest animals gather together to discuss what must be done about Bear. Someone must approach him and stand up to him, but no one has the courage until the little Rabbit says he will approach Bear and get him to stop, but will do so with caring and kindness. Overall, THE HIDE-AND-SCARE BEAR is a cute little story with a message about the power of showing kindness to others and how it can change people.
